Judith “Judy” D. Hanus 73 of Temperance, Mi, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital. Born November 9, 1941 in Berwick, OH, she was the daughter of Clarence and Modest (Cochenauer) Covert. A 1959 graduate of Oak Harbor High School, she married Bart Hanus on October 17, 1973. Judy was an LPN for several years and received her Bachelor’s of Individual Studies from Lourdes University in 1996. She enjoyed playing the piano, camping and boating.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bart. Children, Michael (Lori) Krieger, Douglas (Melissa) Krieger and Melanie (Tom Erswell) Lopinski; brothers, Dean Covert, Larry (Faye) Covert and James (Linda) Covert; 6 grandchildren, Deveny, Kayla, Erik, Logan, Derek and Kyle. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sandra Elwing and sister-in-law, Sally Covert.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:00 am. Pastor Frank Paine, officiating.
